One small annoyance I kept running into with my Tesla Model X was floor mat maintenance. The original mat feels soft and premium under your feet, but dust, sand, and small debris tend to get caught in the fabric. Every time I cleaned it, it took more effort than I wanted.

Why I Bought It

I did not dislike the original Tesla mat. In fact, the original mat feels better if you only compare softness and interior atmosphere. It is comfortable and matches the cabin nicely.

The problem was cleaning. Dust, sand, small stones, and hair naturally build up as you get in and out of the car. With the fabric mat, those small bits do not just sit on the surface. They tend to get stuck in the fibers, so a quick shake is often not enough.

After rainy days or outdoor parking, cleaning the mat became even more annoying. I often needed a vacuum or had to shake it several times, which made me postpone cleaning more than I should have.

What It Was Like in Real Use

Cleaning became much simpler

The biggest improvement was cleaning. With the TPE mat, most dirt stays on the surface instead of sinking into fabric. I can pull the mat out, shake it off, or wipe it with a wet cloth, and it looks clean again quickly.

The driver’s side gets dirty the fastest, but the TPE mat makes the dirt easy to see and easy to remove. It feels like the mat is holding the mess on top rather than absorbing it.

It is less soft than the original mat

If you care most about softness and a premium interior feel, the original mat is better. The TPE mat feels more practical than luxurious. It is mainly about waterproofing, stain resistance, and easy cleaning.

So if cabin aesthetics are your top priority, the original mat may still be more satisfying. But if dust, mud, and water have been bothering you, the TPE mat is far more convenient.

The lower price made it easier to justify

I bought this one from AliExpress. Pricing can change depending on the option and timing, but when I bought it, it was much cheaper than going with an original mat replacement.

That made sense to me. The Model X has a large cabin area, so there is a lot of mat surface to clean. Instead of being overly careful with an expensive mat, I preferred using a more affordable TPE mat that I could wipe down often without worrying too much.
